WELLS FARGO INNOVATION INCUBATOR SELECTS FIVE AGTECH COMPANIES TARGETING GLOBAL FOOD RESILIENCY
ST. LOUIS, MO -- June 14, 2022 -- The Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2), a technology incubator and platform funded by the Wells Fargo Foundation and co-administered by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), today announced it selected five startups to participate in the program’s 11th cohort (4th agtech cohort). EDISON AGROSCIENCES INITIATES NATURAL RUBBER RESEARCH UNDER DARPA PHASE II CONTRACT

Edison Agrosciences, Inc., a privately-held agricultural biotech company focused on new sources of natural rubber, announced today they have initiated a $1.0 million Phase II research contract sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). This Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) research contract will fund further development of Edison’s sunflower rubber technology for the domestic production of natural rubber in sunflower plants.
Edison is collaborating on this contract with the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center in St. Louis to increase the level of rubber naturally produced in the leaves of the sunflower plant. Read More

ARCH GRANTS NAMES NEW COHORT, PLANS EXPANSION
Arch Grants, the St. Louis nonprofit that awards $50,000 equity-free grant to startups, on Friday announced the 20 companies included in its latest cohort. Half the 20 companies are based in the St. Louis region. One international firm is a member of the cohort. As part of the Arch Grants award, each of the companies will commit to operating their business from St. Louis for at least one year.
Arch Grants, which launched in 2012, has given more than $8 million to over 150 startups. Portfolio companies have raised $239 million in follow-on capital and created 1,800-plus jobs, according to the organization. Read More
